Artificial intelligence (AI) is everywhere — on the news, in your social feeds, in boardroom discussions. The term “artificial intelligence” was coined by John McCarthy in 1956. The word “artificial” is straightforward, meaning something that doesn’t occur naturally. However, the word “intelligence” has been defined in numerous ways. Some describe the word as a “suitcase word”.
Instead of defining what intelligence is, I would try to describe it. To me, intelligence is created through the continuous learning cycle of:
- imagine/generate thoughts and ideas
- action, test and/ experiment
- produce results/outcomes
- generate insight/knowledge by evaluating and understanding of results/outcomes and any other implications
- feed insight/knowledge to thought generation process
